With thirty-five years as a professional musician, Singer/Vocal Coach Diane McNaron has appeared throughout the US, Europe and Australia in jazz, cabaret, opera and oratorio. As a vocal coach, she has taught at several universities in the US and abroad, has a Master of Music degree and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Upon returning to her native Birmingham, AL in the 90s, Diane began working with beginning singers and is especially dedicated to community musicians & young voices. With coaching skills in four languages, she also prepares more advanced students for national competitions and has students on the national/international professional scene. As a jazz singer, performing Cabaret Artiste and producer, she is highly skilled in teaching a variety of techniques and styles including the Broadway Belt, Mix and Legit styles. Having released two CDs, one Music Theatre and the other Art Song, Diane McNaron is Birmingham's most experienced and versatile Singer/Vocal Coach.
Singer, Stage Director and Vocal Coach Diane McNaron has a career spanning several decades and a number of countries. As an amazingly versatile performer in genres from jazz and cabaret to oratorio and art song, she has appeared throughout the US and Europe. She has staged over forty cabaret productions, musical reviews & operas and has served as an assistant to some legendary & fascinating directors. Combining her skills for the benefit of students, Diane has taught at universities across the US and abroad. Her students audition successfully and many work as professional singers and stage directors.
As a believer in community engagement
and a supporter of conditions that contribute to peace, Diane works tirelessly on issues of social justice and music activism. Her first CD, Music in Flight, featuring songs by composers who were "in flight" from war & political oppression, was endorsed by Doctors Without Borders (MSF) winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Her Argentine CD Rosas de Pulpa, Rosas de Cal was recently awarded 3rd Place as Classical Vocal CD of the Year, by JUST PLAIN FOLKS. She has produced many benefits and educational events and tours cabaret across the South. Diane has a Master of Music degree with a minor in Theatre from Florida State University, one of the top ten theatre schools in the US. She lives, teaches, and performs in Birmingham, Alabama. Also a painter, her portrait of tenor Michael Ballam as Rodolfo in Puccini's La bohème will hang in the Utah Festival Opera's museum.
